St. Mo’Town Auction a Success!

DSC_2183On Saturday, April 29, St. Monica Academy friends, parents, and benefactors attended the St. Mo’Town Auction & Gala to raise funds to support the school’s classical, Catholic education. The event was held at the Pasadena Hilton and included silent and live auctions, dinner, dancing, and live Motown hits from the Halpin Family Band.

Due to the generosity of the SMA board, parents, donors, and friends, the event was SMA’s highest grossing Auction yet, bringing in more than $235,000 including a $100,000 Cash DSC_2123Call. Proceeds benefit the school’s annual operations including scholarships.

The event honored Ostia Award recipient Mary Kate Zepeda for her 15 years of service to SMA. “Miss Zepeda’s primary program has produced a bountiful harvest of students yearning for beauty, hungering for knowledge, and open to God’s graces,” says SMA Headmaster Marguerite Grimm. “Congratulations to our first teacher to receive the Ostia Award!”

DSC_2121A Message of thanks from the 2017 Auction Committee:

We’re on Cloud Nine! Mercy, Mercy Me, it wasn’t Just Our Imagination, this year’s auction and underwriter program was a resounding success, netting a whop-ping $235,000.00! With the entire St. Monica community pulling out all the stops, how could it not be a chart-buster? How Sweet It Is to have so many support our fabulous SMA! It was truly a community effort! In the words of Board Member, Len Golbranson, “There were hundreds of auction heroes last night – not just those who wrote the biggest checks, but all those who make or made large personal sacrifices in time, treasure, and talent to make the entire night (and by extension the entire enterprise) successful.” The Auction Committee Seconds That Emotion! We can’t thank the auction volunteers enough for the unsung, unglamorous hard work that makes the event a success. As well as all the generous donors who offer unique and valuable items to entice bidders and increase our bottom line. We definitely love The Way You Do the Things You Do. With Auction 2017 now Signed, Sealed, Delivered we offer all of our volunteers, families and benefactors a hearty THANK YOU!!

–Your devoted Auction committee
