An Affair to Remember

auction4auction3auction2auction1St. Monica Academy’s 14th annual dinner and auction, “An Affair to Remember,” took place at the Noor in Pasadena on April 25, 2015. After the silent auction, dinner began with a few words of welcome from Mrs. Grimm and prayer with Fr. Gonzalez. SMA alumnae Adrienne LaFave, Mariclare Lessard and Jane Grimm performed a delightful rendition of “Summertime” from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” by the Andrews Sisters. Next, Board President Martin Boles presented this year’s Ostia Award to Mr. Andy Zepeda. Mr. Zepeda served our school for many years as Board President and Site Committee member, and he continues to contribute his expertise on the Curriculum Committee.

The live auction featured an Atlantic Blue Crab Feast, a wine-tasting trip to Sonoma, a weekend getaway in Maui, a six-night African safari, a lakefront vacation in British Columbia, and a private screening of the new movie Little Boy. After the live auction, seniors Anne Trear and Arthur Halpin led the graduating class of 2015 in a song and dance called “Well Did You Evah,” written by Cole Porter and later made famous by Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.

St. Monica Academy would like to thank the generous donors who contributed items to our auction, and the members of the Auction Committee who have worked countless hours to make the event a success: Calise Green, Bridgette Lacerte, Angela Battles, Peggy Laisaar, Dennis Slavin, Ali Monteverde, Irene Cortez, Claire Crisp, Laura Boldt, Christina Escovar, Kendall Migliozzi, Louise Bannan, Erin Talbot, Mary Putman, Jonathan Green, Sarah Halpin, Leona Jaeger, and Gregg Llamas.
