Service Hours

One of the hallmarks of St. Monica Academy parents is their spirit of service to the school.  To uphold this tradition, we ask each family to give 40 hours service per year to support the activities and projects of the school.  Service hours may be fulfilled in the following ways:

1. Volunteering time – if both parents work the same event, both parents receive credit
2. Donating materials used by the school
3. Buying out service hours.  This is not encouraged as actual service is vital to the school community.  But if the forty hours are not completed by May 30, the difference may be bought out at a rate of $15 per hour.
4. A combination of the above.
5. Only parents may complete service hours.

Volunteer service opportunities and needed supplies will be posted in the weekly Messenger and on the school website.  It is the responsibility of parents to call the chairperson to sign up for events, and to submit a “service hour form” (see link below) to the Parent Guild box under the Parent Guild Bulletin Board in the hallway.  When donating supplies, attach receipts.  Hours not completed will be billed in a separate summer billing.  A copy of your service hour record will be sent via Wednesday Envelope once a year, and upon request to the Parent Service Coordinator.  Note:  Supplies, service, and service hour buy-outs do NOT cover the obligation to support the development programs:  Annual Fund, Spring Auction, Scrip, and HS Trip Fundraiser.
