1. Because of the challenging nature of the classical
college-preparatory curriculum, the student must be of average to above
average ability (average means above the 25th percentile in reading and
mathematics, according to national norms). ************************* 1. Initial getting to know each other. Through a variety
of means, parents and their child get to know the school and school personnel
get to know the student and family. These means include visiting the school
website and reading printed promotional materials, attendance at an open house
or lecture, and a meeting with the head of school and tour of the campus. These forms are in PDF format, which can be viewed by Adobe Acrobat reader. Click here to download Acrobat reader. 3. Further gathering of information about the applicant. This stage may
include the following: the school reads the application and academic records,
younger students attend an organized "play date," the student visits a half
or full-day when school is in session, academic testing is administered if
records of past academic achievement or teacher observations are insufficient,
and a parent or student interview. ************************* The applications of all students who receive a recommendation to admit (either with or without reservation) and who cannot be offered an enrollment contract due to lack of space, are placed on a waiting list until an opening occurs. The school then evaluates each qualified candidate and offers an enrollment contract to whichever candidate is the most appropriate, all factors considered. ************************* The school uses a rolling admission process. Students may be admitted to the school during the school year when there are openings. The school will try to respond to all fully completed applications within two weeks. Generally, final admission decisions are not made until February with formal notice given in early March ************************* Financial aid is available to eligible families. Families may apply for financial by completing a paper application, which is available for download here and in the St. Monica Academy office, or by completing an application online at www.psas.org. Click here for instructions on completing the online application. St. Monica Academy's school code is 4414. Financial Aid applications must be completed by March 23, 2008. ************************* St. Monica Academy admits students without regard to their race, color, national or ethnic origin. The Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic and other school-administered programs, or in its employment of faculty and administrative staff.
