Every year, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles recognizes Catholic high school seniors who have stood out for their exceptional service to the Church and to the community. This year, St. Monica Academy senior Monica Golbranson was one of the winners of the Archdiocesan Christian Service Award. In a special Mass celebrated by Archbishop Jose Gomez on March 19, 2013 at the L.A. Cathedral, Monica and her fellow awardees received medals from the bishop.

Throughout her high school career, Monica’s contributions to the faith community have been numerous. As President of Student Council, she has organized events like Advent and Lent Service Projects, Winter Formal, and Poker Night for Charity. As co-founder and president of Crusaders for Life (our school’s pro-life club) she has launched events like 40 Days for Life, Wash for Life, a Pro-Life Dance to raise money for local Pregnancy Help Centers, student volunteer work in the Walk4Life SoCal and the Go2Bat4LIFE events, and a youth pro-life rally in Sierra Madre.
